KAYMAK, H. C., I. GUVENC and A. GUROL, 2010. Elemental analysis of different radish (Raphanus sativus L.) Cultivars by using wavelength-dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (WDXRF). Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., 16: 769-774 The aim of this work is to study the applicability of a quantitative WDXRF (Wavelength-Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence) method, for determination of minerals in radish specimens. In this study, we have quantitatively and semi-quantitatively analysed the four different radish (Raphanus sativus L.) cultivars (cvs. ‘Siyah’, ‘Beyaz’, ‘Antep’ and ‘Iri-Kirimizi’). We have found that major elements; namely N and K; a few minor elements; Na, Mg, P, S, and Ca, and a lot of trace elements; Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Al, Ti, Cr, Br, Rb, Sr, Sn, Ba and La. The obtained trace element concentrations range from 0.01 to 3.24 mg per 100 g. This rapid method has been found to be a reliable technique for analyzing the mineral content in radish. At the end of this work, it was clearly said that Wavelengthdispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (WDXRF) could be used for the analysis of mineral contents of radish and other vegetables.

Radioactive Sample Effects on Edxrf Spectra
Energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) is a rapid, straightforward method to determine sample elemental composition. A spectrum can be collected in a few minutes or less, and elemental content can be determined easily if the detector has adequate energy resolution. Radioactive alpha emitters, however, emit X-rays during the alpha decay process that complicates spectral interpretation. Thi...

The paper presents possibilities and difficulties in nondestructive analysis of small multielement single crystals performed by means of X-ray spectrometry techniques: micro-X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (μ-XRF), energy-dispersive electron probe microanalysis (ED-EPMA), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The capability of the X-ray spectroscopy techniques in elemental analysis is dem...
متن کاملDetermination of High Zn and Pb Concentrations in Polluted Soils Using Energy-Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry
A method of determination of high Zn and Pb concentrations by means of EDXRF (energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry) is presented. Zn and Pb concentration in soil samples from contaminated areas ranged within a limit of Zn: 800–2000ppm and Pb: 200–600ppm. Soil analysis was conducted directly after the samples had been dried and powdered, as well as in situ in polluted areas. Due to ...

Radhuni (Carum roxburghianum Benth.) seeds of three indigenous cultivars grown in Bangladesh have been studied for minerals and various compositional properties as well as assess their role in human nutrition. Variability was observed among investigated cultivars in terms of physical characteristics (e.g. seed volume, seed density, hydration capacity, hydration index, swelling capacity and swel...
متن کاملTransient expression of green fluorescent protein in radish (Raphanus sativus) using a turnip mosaic virus based vector
It is possible to use transgenic plants, as bioreactors, for the production of recombinant inexpensive chemicals and drug components. Transient gene expression is an appropriate alternative to stable transformation because it allows an inexpensive and rapid method for expression of recombinant proteins in plant tissues. In recent years, plant viral vectors have been increasingly developed as su...
